Auditions

Auditions are held in early September and are one night only. We welcome anyone to come and tryout, no matter what their dance experience may be. We stretch, go across the floor, and teach a combo which everyone performs at the end of the night. We usually hold a workshop the day before tryouts which allows anyone to come and see what Expressions is all about.

Performances

Expressions performs at many Chico State Athletic games including men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s basketball. We also perform at many community events including the annual Chico Parade of Lights and Up Till Dawn. We love performing at different events so if you are interested in us performing at one of yours, please email chicostateexpressions@gmail.com

Tabling

Expressions is a student-ran team, which means we have to come up with all of our expenses. In order to do this, we usually table about one week per month during the school days. At our table, we sell baked goods and candy grams as well as advertise for upcoming performances.

Fundraisers

We try to put on a variety of fundraisers in order to make money to cover all of our showcase expenses, including costumes, rental of the BMU, lighting, etc. We have sold massage tickets, baked goods, candy grams, as well as hold fundraisers at local restaurants.

Community Service

Expressions loved performing at all types of community service events. During Christmas time, we perform at the Wind chime nursery home for elders who absolutely love having visitors. We have also performed at the Wing’s of Angels fundraiser

Upcoming Events

We will be performaing at many soccer, basketball, colleyball and rugby games this school year. Check out our Facebook and Instagram for more updates.

Competition

We are planning on competing at USA and NDA collegiate competitions this year. USA is located in Anaheim, California and NDA will be held in Daytona Beach, Florida. More updates will be given bases on Covid-19 restrictions from the school.
